zzz

i have been sleeping like it's my job. it's so nice to catch up on this, after having gone for a max of 6 hrs a night for the past 3 weeks. i need at least 8 hrs to function semi-normally, 13 hrs to be in top form ;)

got all the shopping done. we went to this big ass mall near my parents' house on saturday and i went to town. miraculously, it took my dad 3 minutes upon entering the lot to find parking. and this mall attracts everyone from the philadelphia area so parking is notoriously awful. there were cops in the lot directing traffic, it was that bad. so kudos to dad!

since, i've pretty much been passed out on my bed, eating, playing PS2, or reading a book about stephen hawking that my friend lent to me. as interesting as that book is, it pretty much starts the cycle of sleeping, eating, PS2, reading, sleeping, etc. of course that's b/c i read lying down so it's inevitable.

my sis and i made the rum cake. it was good. but we didn't know where the electric mixer was, and no matter how long we hand-mixed it, there were lumps. so we had to pour the batter in small batches into this tiny food processor (for nuts) to blend it, resulting in batter all over the floor and on my pants, and somehow on the drapes, which hasn't been noticed yet. what a mess! at least the cake is awesome.

yawning again. all this sleep and i can hardly go a few hours without thinking of a nap. we had a discussion last night about the prevalence of electricity resulting in less sleep. there were some studies done of french and eastern european peoples in the 19th and early 20th centuries that found that prior to having electricity, they would sleep when the sun went down and arose when it came up. it wasn't unusual to have 2 sleep periods where people would wake in the middle of the night, hang out, eat, whatever, then go back to sleep. but the essence was that everyone got a lot more sleep back then. we need to return to those days. and i think i need a nap right now.
